Quality Control |
No effort or expense is spared by "Oter Israel" when it comes to the quality of our products, which is so critical concerning Torah scrolls, Tefillin, Mezuzot, and Megillot. All the work at "Oter Israel" is conducted in an atmosphere of le-shem kedushat mitzvah, "for the sake of the sanctity of the commandment." "Oter Israel" operates on the premise that in matters of Jewish law, even a high standard of 99 percent is not sufficient, since the one percent that is missing renders the product 100 percent nonkosher. Each step that is taken during the process of writing and production receives the full attention of the Oter Israel staff. Exacting quality control is conducted not only at the transition points from one stage in the production process to the other, rather, all aspects of the product are examined several times during each and every stage. There are certain types of unfitness that the halakhah rules cannot be corrected, resulting in the invalidation of the product. To avoid such a total loss of all the effort and resources that were invested, all our products are painstakingly examined throughout the production process. Innovative production and quality assurance processes have been introduced at "Oter Israel", and special equipment that is commonly used in other industries has been adapted to the production of Torah scrolls, Tefillin, Mezuzot, and Megillot, for uncompromising quality and kashrut. In order to avoid any possibility of a conflict of interest during the course of their work, the salaries of all our employees are determined in accordance with work hours, regardless of output and without incentive pay that is common in some sectors of the economy. In both the production and the examination of any of our products, no deductions are taken from the employee`s salary if any item is ruled unfit. All of these considerations are of no value if the owner of a company is primarily interested in profitability. At Oter Israel, the kashrut and quality of each of our products are given top priority. Any halakhic questions regarding the quality or kashrut of our products are resolved in the strictest possible manner. Items that have been ruled unfit are set aside for deposit in a Genizah as a matter of course, without hesitation.
