About Us |
"Oter Israel" produces and markets Torah scrolls, Tefillin (in every variety of script and custom: Beit Yosef, Ari, Sefardi, Chabad, Rashi, and Rabbenu Tam), Mezuzot, and Megillot(scrolls of Esther, and other scrolls read in the synagogue) of the highest quality, kashrut, and fine style. "Oter Israel" was founded in the late 1960s by Rabbi Yisrael Klein, when the demand for Torah scrolls, Tefillin, and Mezuzot grew in Israel and the Diaspora, and the market was flooded with shoddy items. At that time, Rabbi Klein was about to conclude his military service as the young rabbi of a division of the Israel Defense Forces. A group of rabbis and Yeshivah heads turned to Rabbi Klein, a brilliant young scholar from Yeshivat Kerem BeYavne, and charged him with the responsibility of making sacred scrolls of the highest quality and unquestioned kashrut available to the public at large. Combining a broad knowledge of Jewish law and limitless devotion to Torah with a deep intuitive understanding of craftsmanship, technology, and the process of producing such holy objects, Rabbi Klein was clearly the right man for this hallowed mission. The production facilities, that are located in the Givat Shaul neighborhood in Jerusalem, include:
The production process is characterized by its precision and the strict emphasis placed upon the observance of all the demands of Jewish law. About forty people are employed in this holy work, including a skilled team of ordained scribes, and the senior staff is comprised almost in its entirety of Yeshivah (Talmudic academy) graduates. Oter Israel`s entire raison d`etre is to make available Torah scrolls, Tefillin, Mezuzot, and Megillot of the highest quality, with strict adherence to the full requirements of Jewish law, in the finest manner of observance of the commandments. The precise quality control ensures that the user receives a product that is perfect in the eyes of the Halakhah (Jewish law) in return for his monetary investment - because something that is even 99 percent kosher is 100 percent unfit. |
